E. DEAN LOVETT AWARD
for Exemplary Contributions to a College Health Program
2026 Recipient:
Lisa St. Onge, LPN, University of Vermont
Lisa A. St. Onge is a licensed practical nurse with over four decades of experience across diverse health care settings, from obstetrics and pediatrics to university-based student health services. From a young age, Lisa knew nursing was her calling as she was the designated person to administer bandages and first aid to her family.
What distinguishes Lisa is her practical approach to improving care delivery. She creates and implements protocols based on real-world experience, trains staff effectively, and works collaboratively across departments to solve problems. At the University of Vermont’s Student Health Services, where she has been since 2007, Lisa has been a steady anchor through multiple transitions. At UVM, she has contributed to important initiatives including sexual assault response protocols and gender-affirming care programs.
Lisa excels at navigating busy clinical environments while maintaining focus on individual patients. From spearheading UVM’s COVID efforts to coordinating with outside agencies, she brings calm, clear thinking to all situations. She is dedicated to patient advocacy and continuous improvement in vulnerable population care.
Outside of work, Lisa loves traveling with her husband, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and enjoys knitting, crocheting, and reading, as well as cuddling with her black lab, Remy.
