This report examines the impact of recent legislation on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services on college campuses.
Developed by the American College Health Foundation (ACHF) through an educational grant from Hologic, this report provides an in-depth analysis of how recent legislative changes affect sexual and reproductive health (SRH) on college campuses across the United States. Conducted from fall 2023 to spring 2024, the qualitative research included an environmental scan and focus groups with students and campus health professionals. The findings reveal significant themes, such as the increasing influence of external stakeholders, trust issues between students and health care providers, and the challenges posed by rapidly changing SRH policies.
This comprehensive report explores the barriers students face in accessing SRH care, the decision-making processes of campus professionals, and the communication preferences and needs of both groups. Additionally, it examines institutional responses to SRH legislation and provides recommendations for future research and policy to improve student well-being in the evolving SRH landscape. The insights gained aim to inform and support college health service providers, educators, counselors, and administrators in navigating the complexities of SRH on campus.
