ACHA drives its advocacy efforts with purpose and precision, guided by two key documents: the Policy Platform and the Policy Priorities Agenda. Together, these tools ensure ACHA’s actions align with the health and well-being priorities of its members.

  • The Policy Platform outlines the core health policies and values that resonate with ACHA’s mission.
  • The Policy Priorities Agenda translates these values into concrete actions and initiatives for the upcoming year.

Each year, ACHA’s board approves updated versions of these documents following a collaborative process. Members contribute insights and suggestions, which are reviewed and refined by ACHA’s Government Affairs Team and Advocacy Committee. Final proposals are submitted to the ACHA Board for approval each January.

Key Updates for 2025

This year’s revisions reflect ACHA’s commitment to advancing health and wellness on campuses nationwide. Highlights include:

  • Membership updates: The Policy Platform now reflects the latest institutional and individual membership numbers.
  • Newly integrated resources: Essential published materials from ACHA and our Foundation, such as:
  • Inclusive language: Enhanced focus on emotional well-being, inclusive environments, and fostering a sense of belonging within college communities.
  • Progress tracking: Updated status on college health index establishment efforts in the Policy Priorities Agenda.
  • Advocacy for funding flexibility: A proposal to eliminate institutional fund-matching requirements for the Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant, allowing colleges to secure more funding for student well-being initiatives.

These updates reaffirm ACHA’s leadership in addressing pressing campus health challenges. By prioritizing inclusivity, collaboration, and forward-thinking solutions, ACHA ensures that its advocacy efforts meet the evolving needs of its members and the students they serve.

We value your input! If you have questions, feedback, or suggestions for next year’s Policy Platform and Agenda, please reach out to advocacy@acha.org. Together, we can continue fostering healthier, more supportive college communities.
