Understanding Vaccine Coverage on College Campuses

A Research Partnership with Pfizer, Inc.

This collaboration between the American College Health Foundation (ACHF) and Pfizer, Inc. explores campus vaccine policies and procedures and  vaccine coverage rates of students at IHEs in the United States. The result of this partnership is two versions of the survey report "Immunization Practices in College Health: Requirements, Coverage, and Data."

September 2022 Report

This updated version of the 2020 survey was fielded again in order to capture 2021-2022 vaccine data in an effort to improve the knowledge base for vaccine completion rates and overall vaccine coverage among U.S. college and university students. The American College Health Foundation project team updated the vaccine coverage survey to include COVID-19 related vaccine data questions. The survey, administered from December 2021 through February 2022 also collected data related to campus vaccine policies, enforcement, exemptions, collection, and verification. A report of the findings is available to download. Special thanks to Pfizer, Inc for their financial support of this project.

February 2021 Report

In an effort to improve the knowledge base for vaccine completion rates and overall vaccine coverage among U.S. college and university students, ACHF, with support from Pfizer, Inc, created a vaccine coverage survey. This survey, administered from August through October 2020 collected data on vaccines recommended for adolescent/young adult college students by ACIP, including HBV, HPV, Influenza, MenACWY, MenB, MMR, Td/Tdap, and varicella vaccines as well as vaccine policies, enforcement, and staffing. Additional COVID-19 related policy questions were added to meet the current moment. A report of the findings is available to download. A second administration of the survey is expected to occur in July 2021.
