March Coffee Hour:
Making It Happen Beyond Silos: Moving Health Promotion from Theory to Practice
Date: Thursday, March 19, 2026
Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CST
Presenter: Suzy Harrington, DNP, RN, MCHES, Well-Being Specialist and Author
Description: Health promotion and public health professionals widely recognize the importance of well-being, prevention, and systems-level approaches, yet implementation often remains fragmented across programs and roles. The Harrington Well-Being Model was developed to help move this work from theory into practice by offering a strategic and operational framework that supports alignment and coordinated action.
This coffee hour draws on Dr. Suzy Harrington's book, Building Health-Promoting Organizations, which provides a comprehensive, practical guide for advancing this work beyond silos. Grounded in health promotion theory, socio-ecological principles, and organizational change-and informed by applied leadership across higher education, healthcare, and public health-the session highlights practical lessons, common challenges, and real-world examples relevant to campus health professionals.
