Monique Mead is a violinist, innovator, and educator. As Director of Music Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, she helps students forge new pathways for professional musicians and supports student-driven projects in the community. Since the pandemic and the ensuing mental health crisis, her efforts have been focused on the intersection of music and well-being.
Having developed an effective stress-reducing sound bath protocol for a mental health practice in Pittsburgh, she brought the idea of a campus sound bath to Carnegie Mellon University, and with the support of a dedicated team of entrepreneurial students, created the first in-house student-run sound bath on a college campus. With research data showing a 70% reduction in stress, the team plans to use the ACHF grant to expand its offerings in the coming year.
