James Wilkinson, MA, CAE

James Wilkinson, MA, CAE, is a seasoned non-profit servant leader with nearly two decades of experience leading professional societies. From 2015-2020, he served as Executive Director of the Society for Vascular Ultrasound, where he grew membership to record levels, stood up its affiliated foundation, and transitioned the organization into the research activities. Prior to that, he served as Vice President for Strategy and Growth at the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), and as Executive Director at Washington International Trade Association (WITA), where membership and sponsorships doubled during his decade-long tenure.

James holds the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). He earned his Masters in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University, and degrees in Education from Frostburg State University and English Literature from the University of Maryland. Currently he serves on the Boards of several local civic and charitable non-profits, including the Ethics Commission of his hometown.

He lives with his family in suburban Maryland, just outside the nation’s capital. He has hiked a section of all 11 National Scenic Trails, including over 800 miles of his favorite, the venerable Appalachian Trail.
