“Virtual and Video Health Outreach Initiatives to Branch Campus Students”

This project will develop a broad library of virtual and video health education and wellness content that can be shared with branch campuses and disseminated on campus websites, social media, and with campus groups. The project aims to increase University of New Mexico students’ access to accurate and meaningful health education and prevention information. Health literacy content will be developed to empower students who are ambivalent about accessing health services, and substance abuse prevention and treatment resources content will be developed to address the high substance use rate in New Mexico, with the goal being to educate UNM students on opioid use and dangers and the harm reduction approaches available to them.

About the Project Director:
Benjamin’s journey into collegiate student health began at the University of New Mexico’s Recreational Services department, where he learned the importance of love, care, and communication for all students. Through his time in Recreational Services, he discovered a passion for supporting students during a transitional period that can be challenging for many. During his time as the student wellness supervisor, Benjamin has learned to rely on the relationships he has built and the wonderful people at the University of New Mexico. Benjamin says Dr. Stephanie McIver has been an incredible mentor, walking alongside him as they navigate the ever-evolving landscape of public health.
