2025 RECIPIENT
ACHF Student Travel Award
Angelita is a second-year undergraduate student from UC Davis majoring in neurobiology, physiology, and behavior with a focus in neurobiology. Currently, she is a lead researcher in travel immunizations and is working with two other students from UC Berkeley on student knowledge of latent tuberculosis. Their goal is to increase student awareness of LTBI on our respective campuses whilst determining which ways better convey this information to them. She has noticed that there seems to be a delay/disconnection between students and information provided by student health services, so when information is wanted, it may not be given efficiently. This is why she believes that determining where and how that disconnection begins is how we start to lessen the gap, which results in higher awareness not only of LTBI, but of many other diseases and disorders the student body may suffer with. Angelita also plans to further her knowledge in neurobiology by participating in research regarding neurodegenerative diseases and/or memory and learning during her next two years at UCD and hopefully play a role in advancing our understanding of both.
