The American College Health Association (ACHA) welcomes students, faculty, and staff to the 2025–2026 academic year! As we begin a new chapter, we remain committed to supporting successful, healthy campuses.

Health and well-being are foundational to student success, and one of the most effective ways to protect individual and community health is through vaccination. We encourage institutions to review the ACHA Guidelines: Immunization Recommendations for College Students, provided by the ACHA Vaccine-Preventable Diseases Committee. These guidelines include recommendations for implementing comprehensive immunization policies to protect the health of all members of the campus community.

Decades of research continue to affirm the safety and effectiveness of vaccines in preventing serious diseases such as measles, mumps, meningitis, polio, chickenpox, pertussis, influenza, human papillomavirus (HPV), and COVID-19. Vaccination remains a cornerstone of public health and a vital tool in maintaining safe and thriving campuses.

ACHA, therefore, is deeply concerned by recent efforts that undermine public confidence in vaccines. Following evidence-based vaccination guidelines is essential—not only for individual health and wellness but also for the collective safety, stability, and accessibility of higher education institutions and the communities they serve.

College campuses are vibrant intergenerational environments that depend on strong public health measures to optimize academic success. Let’s work together to protect our campus communities and promote a culture of health and well-being. Here’s to a safe and successful academic year.
