Mpox 2026—Beyond the Outbreak: What’s Changed and How to Protect Students Through Awareness and Preventive Counseling

This session reviews the latest epidemiologic and clinical updates and offers practical strategies for integrating Mpox into routine sexual health assessments to support informed, student-centered care.

Dr. Titanji is a Cameroonian-born physician-scientist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University. She earned her medical degree from the University of Yaoundé I, a master’s degree in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a PhD in Virology from University College London. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and Adult Infectious Diseases fellowship at Emory.

Her work focuses on HIV, emerging infectious diseases, science communication, and global health equity. During the COVID-19 pandemic and global mpox outbreak, she led clinical and translational research initiatives focused on therapeutics, disease presentation, and pathogenesis. Her current research examines inflammation as a driver of cardiovascular disease in people with HIV, with a broader focus on improving care, strengthening research capacity, and advancing equitable health policy.
