Important News: SCHA 2020 Annual Meeting Cancelled Due to the COVID-19 Outbreak

On March 10, The Southern College Health Association Board made the complicated decision to cancel the 2020 SCHA Annual Conference in Birmingham. This decision was made based on the ongoing and evolving information and advisements about COVID-19.

Many of you are working tirelessly as leaders on your campus to make plans and preparations for the health and protection of your students, faculty and staff.  Now is simply not the time when most of us can be away from our campuses. Additionally, the Board does not believe that we have adequate time to work with our Conference venue and Birmingham resources to make sure that recommended emergency preparedness plans are in place for this Conference toward the safety of our registrants.

All registrations will be refunded. The UAB team and SCHA Board will work with Eventbrite to ensure that full refunds for registration will be applied in a timely fashion. If you have any questions or need assistance with any issues, please do not hesitate to contact Darren Aaron, SCHA treasurer, at aarondo@wfu.edu

Elections for Board positions will be postponed, and current Board members will remain in their positions until the SCHA Business Meeting during the ACHA National Conference in May. If COVID-19 impacts the national ACHA Annual Meeting we will likely hold elections virtually. More to follow on that.
The SCHA Board wishes to thank and acknowledge all the hard work and efforts that the team at The University of Alabama Birmingham has done to plan and prepare for this Conference for well over a year. The Conference was going to be amazing which makes this decision all the more difficult to make. We are tremendously grateful to our colleagues at UAB!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns and, of course, we acknowledge that some members may have made a different decision about our 2020 Conference and we respect those perspectives as well.

Wishing all of you good health and sustainment as we meet the challenge of caring for our campus communities.
