Awards and Travel Grants

Award Nominations

To nominate someone: Write a letter of nomination and ask a colleague to write a letter of support. Both letters must be written by another member of the affiliate and/or from the institution where the nominee is employed. Attach the letters to the nomination form.

Charles F. Bohmann Award

Named in recognition of a true administrator, this award represents the highest honor of SCHA. The Bohmann award honors those who have dedicated their careers to college health and service to SCHA and ACHA. Nominees should be outstanding leaders who have established impressive standards for excellence and service both in the field of college health as and in SCHA. The SCHA Executive Board will select an award recipient and send the recommendation to ACHA. This award will be presented during the SCHA annual meeting in March.

Charles F. Bohmann Award Winners

ACHA Affiliate New Professional Award

Established in 2002, this award recognizes individuals who have been in the field of college health for five years or less and demonstrates the potential for significance and sustained leadership important to the mission of ACHA. The SCHA Executive Board will select an award recipient and will be notified after the ACHA Board of Directors meeting in February. The recipient will be announced in the April issue of ACHA Action and the award presented during the ACHA annual meeting in June.

New Professional Award Winners

Travel Grants

The Southern College Health Association offers travel grants, as the Budget allows, to support SCHA conferences. The purpose of the travel grant program is:

  • To encourage broader participation for college health professionals who are from small schools or schools with limited travel budgets
  • To assist those who have been accepted to present a program or a poster but cannot afford to travel

Up to $1,200.00 may be reimbursed for conference related travel and registration. A limit of no more than two (2) travel grants shall be awarded to any school annually. The Board will not be able to award a travel grant to every member that requests support, but we do strongly encourage you to apply.

Please submit the travel grant requests by April 4 of each year.
