COVID-19 Virtual Summit: Planning for Now, Building for the Future

As we prepare to resume academic instruction, we'll use this virtual summit to think creatively about keeping our students, faculty, and staff physically and mentally healthy and what campus health and well-being looks like on the other side of COVID-19.

Checklists for Reopening Campus Medical Services Operations and Mental Health Service Operations
The ACHA COVID-19 Task Force has created two documents to assist with reopening operations, one specific to reopening medical services, and one to reopening mental health services. These resources were developed as a companion to the ACHA Guidelines: Considerations for Reopening Institutions of Higher Education in the COVID-19 Era, and are intended to assist directors and staff in assessing their readiness and preparation for reopening as well as serve as a guidepost for reinstituting and modifying services in the changed world of COVID-19.
The Impact of COVID-19 on College Student Well-Being
ACHA, in collaboration with the Healthy Minds Network, developed a new set of survey items related to students’ experiences with the COVID-19
pandemic. The new items focused on students’ attitudes, concerns, preventive behaviors, and their perceived supportiveness of colleges and universities related to COVID-19. View a brief data report which presents results from 18,764 students on 14 campuses that participated in the surveys from late March through May 2020.

ACHA Survey Reports on Health Centers' Pandemic Operating Status and Response
ACHA recently developed and administered two surveys to collect critical data to
assist in the study of the COVID-19 pandemic event. The results included in these reports, "The COVID-19 Pandemic's Effect on Campus Health Services," represent a snapshot of
the college health services' operating status and response at the time the surveys were conducted:

These guidelines (dated March 3, 2020), developed by the ACHA COVID-19 Task Force with support from the American College Health Foundation, aid college health staff and campus administrators in preparing for COVID-19 and related issues on their campuses. View the guidelines here.

WHO Emergency Public Dashboard: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Situation
The World Health Organization (WHO) Health Emergency Dashboard is a platform which aims to share information about public health events and emergencies. The data on the dashboard is refreshed every fifteen (15) minutes and data is accurate as at time of refreshing.
Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases by Johns Hopkins CSSE
Johns Hopkins University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) is tracking the COVID-19 spread in real-time in an interactive dashboard with data available for download.
Provides retrospective counts of new U.S. cases by date.
A weekly surveillance summary of U.S. COVID-19 activity. The report summarizes and interprets key indicators including information related to COVID-19 outpatient visits, emergency department visits, hospitalizations and deaths, as well as laboratory data.
Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington
Provides projections for all 50 states on when the projected peak of the pandemic will occur.

Preparing for COVID-19
The ACHA COVID-19 Task Force has
prepared these guidelines [pdf] to help college health
staff and campus administrators prepare for
coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and related issues
on their campuses. The guidelines are intentionally broad
so that each institution, small or large, can modify them
based on existing campus and local resources. Moreover,
each institution should seek guidance and coordination
from their local and state public health agencies.

It is the most comprehensive resource on the subject, providing a central access to 1200 (and growing) relevant articles in PubMed. The articles are updated daily and are further categorized by different research topics and geographic locations for improved access.
Providing Facilities and Support to Hospitals
Tufts University is providing this Operational, Legal and Risk Considerations for Colleges and Universities outline that institutions can consider when entering into agreements to share their residential halls, grounds, and other campus facilities with hospitals, cities, and other entities in the fight against COVID-19. Tufts has also created this mathematical modeling tool to connect hospitals to nearby college campuses.
