In response to the ACHA Racial Marginalization Health Inequities Task Force recommendations, we will be hosting a series of race and ethnicity-based affinity group spaces at this year’s Annual Meeting. The spaces will be divided into a space for white-identified attendees and a space for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) identified attendees, which includes those who identify as Arab or Middle Eastern, Asian, South Asian, Pacific Islander, Latinx or Hispanic, Native, and Multiracial.
White-identified spaces:
This will be a space for white-identified folx who are interested in starting or furthering their anti-racist practice. A crucial part of anti-racism work for white people is examining and deconstructing their whiteness and white privilege. Wherever you fall in the process of practicing anti-racism, we welcome you to explore how we can create a more anti-racist approach within college health and at ACHA.
BIPOC-identified spaces:
This will be a space for those who are interested in connecting with colleagues who share similar identities, reflect on their experiences navigating college health and higher education, and share experiences and strategies for working with colleagues and students as someone who identifies as BIPOC.
