This webinar will review FERPA (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), the two pieces of federal legislation that pertain to the privacy and protection of healthcare records and protected health information on our college and university campuses. The presentation will look at the similarities and differences between FERPA and HIPAA and the situations under which one or both may apply. You will learn the difference between FERPA educational and treatment records and why that is important in your college health program. Included is a review of “TPO” and the “Minimum Necessary Rule."
