Part of our professional responsibilities involves knowing if, what, and how well students learn what is being taught. Ideally, assessment would be a regular, inherent, and transparent part of all teaching and learning. Assessment of student learning, and a focus on persistence and completion are ways in which the institution improves and thus assures the quality of its teaching and learning. Assessment applies not only to student learning and educational outcomes but to an institution’s approach to improvement of institutional effectiveness.
- Health Educator
The participants should be able to:
- Define assessment as it pertains to student divisions and the greater University.
- Describe areas where assessment and student learning outcomes are appropriate.
- Identify the components of an effective student learning outcome.
- Discuss approaches to program plans that address student learning.
