Gallagher Koster Innovative Practices in College Health Fund 2013 Mini Grant Opportunities
Gallagher Koster has established through the American College Health Foundation the Gallagher Koster Innovative Practices in College Health Fund. The purpose of this fund is to provide financial support to student health centers and their staff for the development of innovative practices that improve access to quality health care for students.
Two separate mini-grants will be awarded through the Gallagher Koster Fund in 2013. This is the tenth year that the Gallagher Koster Innovative Practices in College Health grant will be awarded. This grant supports the development of creative solutions to improve access to quality health care for all students. In addition, a mini-grant will be offered through a program titled, Innovative Practices in Culturally Competent Health Care. Funding through this second award will be used to plan, design, implement, and evaluate the use of culturally competent health care practices that focus on the successful treatment of specific diseases and health conditions that have been documented by national health statistics to disproportionately affect racial and ethnic minority populations, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian American/Pacific Islanders, and American Indians/Alaska Natives student populations.
The goal of this grant program is to spawn new ideas and innovative practices that improve students' access to health care and to share these strategies with other college health care professionals via presentations at state, regional, and national conferences, and publications in college health related periodicals.
American College Health Association Institutional or Individual Members are eligible to apply for these grants. Applicants are encouraged to put together project proposals that develop or utilize partnerships on their campuses and that demonstrate internal financial and in-kind support. The deadline for proposals was January 31, 2013. Grant recipient(s) will be announced at the 2013 American College Health Association Annual Meeting scheduled for May 28-June 1 in Boston, Massachusetts.
