Cynthia A. Lubianez, RN, MS
2005 NECHA President's Award Recipient
Dedication, honesty and integrity have defined your nine-year tenure as Assistant Director of Boston College's Health Services. From taking the time to talk with individual students to supervising student health educators to sharing your management expertise with other professionals, you demonstrate your willingness to collaborate on problem-focused solutions to the challenges inherent in college health administration.
Your leadership at Boston College has paved the way for dramatic improvements in compliance and quality assurance standards. Your efforts include staff training to insure appropriate follow-through, designing a student survey to assess student satisfaction and the physical redesign of the college's health center. The hallmark of your professional work is advocacy for the health and well-being of students, colleagues, and the community.
Keeping pace with changes and strategic initiatives in college health, your motivation, skills and professional knowledge place you ahead of the curve, providing untold benefits to your colleagues. Your technological savvy resulted in a smooth transition to a new office management system. Your commitment to privacy and security of student information has served your college and NECHA well. You took on the Herculean task of HIPAA compliance - educating yourself and sharing your knowledge on- and off-campus. The 2003 NECHA-sponsored summit on HIPAA relied on the ability to translate complex policy into practical applications. The day's success was a reflection on your strengths of collaboration and collegiality.
A common thread weaves itself through your work - that of a humble person who infuses humanity, warmth, strength and generosity into all that you do. It is, therefore, with all due respect and gratitude that the New England College Health Association commemorates your outstanding service to college health with this award.
