As a valued member of the Merrimack College professional community for over 35 years, Nancy Barry, RNC is the recipient of the 2006 Louise Gazzara Award. As Supervisor of Nursing Services at Merrimack College, Nancy has seen the health services through transition from a 24/7 infirmary to its current role within the Hamel Health Center. One of Nancy’s greatest attributes is her ability to stay current with all the changes in health care and health care insurance industries. There’s no better example of Nancy’s competence, compassion and good cheer than when the college was recently faced with a Norovirus epidemic. Merrimack administrators, Massachusetts governmental agencies, students and parents were unanimous in praising Nancy’s work and grace under pressure as she dealt with the crisis. Team-player, valuable resource, patient comforter, gifted clinician and skilled craftsperson are words your co-workers use to describe your gifts to Merrimack and college health.
