Jessica, the coordinator of alcohol and other drug prevention
programs at Bentley College, has been in the college health field for a very short time but has achieved a great deal. She has greatly expanded the number of new
prevention programs offered to Bentley’s students; Jessica was instrumental in
implementing an alcohol education requirement for incoming freshman. She also
gives weekly presentations to varying groups across campus, including athletic
teams and Greek organizations. One notable program that Jessica began is “Strait
Talks,” in which she visits high-risk floors in residence halls to speak frankly with
students about alcohol and drug use. Her friendly and non-judgmental manner
and her openness to student discussion create an environment in which students
are both at ease and respectful.
