CCHA Affiliate Task Forces: 2005-2007 Final Report
Four Task Forces were charged by the Central CHA Executive Board at the 2005 Annual Meeting, to further the affiliate mission. Leading and advocating for college and university health professionals, with the goal of advancing the health of students and their campus communities guided the groups. The process also sought to incorporate the VLIRC Implementation phase on a local level. Outcomes are summarized below.

History Task Force
Charge: This task force took a look at Central CHA past accomplishments and lessons learned.
Co-Chairs: Carol Frevert, Avila University & Ruth Sarna, Baker University
Accomplishments:
This group began review of CCHA history, through documents and discussion. A formal Historian position was appointed to continue the archival process. Ava Ferreira, former Director of Health Services at Rockhurst University was appointed as Historian by the Board in June 2006. Ava's Rockhurst University position was eliminated unexpectedly in January 2007. Ruth Sarna was elected Historian for 2007-08.

Mentoring Task Force
Charge: This task force explored the power of making professional connections and strengthening college health's future.
Co-Chairs: Marilyn Yourdon, Wichita State University & Marcia Adler, University of Nebraska at Omaha

Accomplishments:
These leaders explored linking professionals new to college health with mentors. They joined forces with the 'Taking the Lead in College Health' task force and the Board to recommend expanded roles for Members-At-Large. The establishment of leadership contacts throughout state regions, who notify the Members-at-Large of staffing changes, and welcome new professionals are planned. Contact your state Members-at-Large to volunteer.

Annual Meeting Task Force
Charge: This task force worked on defining the professional development structure of the CCHA Annual Meeting.
Co-Chairs: Lisa Sommerhauser, St. Louis Community College at Meramec, & Carol Frevert, Avila University.

Accomplishments:
Cathie Barry contributed substantially to this project, developing an informational CD ROM on program planning. The guide is in draft form currently to ensure common processes with regard to general process, vendor and contracting service issues, and financial accounting procedures in affiliate Annual Meeting planning. Congruency with the Affiliate VLIRC Implementation process has been observed throughout this group's work, and will continue through May 2007. A final draft for review will be presented to the Board in June 2007.

'Taking the Lead in College Health'
3 - 5 Year Plan
Task Force
Charge: This task force looked at both the current climate of CCHA and identification of future directions of the organization to advance the health of students and campus communities in connection with ACHA and its national initiatives.
Co-Chairs: Michelle Hendricks, Central Missouri State University & Peg Nyffeler, University of Nebraska at Kearney

Accomplishments:
This task force surveyed the current climate of the affiliate using an on-line web survey. Correlation with ACHA's vision, mission, & core values, Healthy Campus 2010, and CAS Professional Standards in Higher Education was utilized when looking at future goals. Recommendations for CCHA planning priorities within the next 3 - 5 years, including leadership training, and a process to identify emerging leaders was very well defined with outstanding vision and initiative. A workgroup meeting was held in June 2006 with the Board. Measures to increase communication among membership resulted in a groundbreaking listserv hosted by Habif Health & Wellness Center, Washington University in St. Louis - Dr. Alan Glass, Director. Additionally, measures to increase leadership training for CCHA members and collaboration with other ACHA dimensions through dedicated sessions at the CCHA Annual Meeting were instituted. Board positions were added to increase opportunities for leadership at the affiliate level. The June workgroup meeting will be an annual event for the Board, task force chairs, and its leaders-in-training. Congruency with the Affiliate VLIRC Implementation process has been observed throughout this group's work, and will continue through May 2007. Additional suggestions were provided to empower affiliate leaders to meet the comprehensive needs of the membership over the next 5 years, which will be incorporated in future initiatives.

The above task forces will end on May 31, 2007. Thank you for your enthusiasm & continued commitment to volunteer leadership development in CCHA!
