ACHA Pandemic Influenza Surveillance
Influenza Like Illness (ILI) in Colleges and Universities

Cumulative Data Since Report Inception

(Week Ending April 30, 2010)

The following depicts cumulative ILI case data (CDC ILI case definition) [ICD-CM Diagnosis 487.1] reported by institutions of higher education since inception of this ILI surveillance network (beginning with case reporting for the weekly period August 22-28, 2009).

ACHA thanks all participating institutions involved in this surveillance effort. Together, our efforts should provide college health professionals and public health officials with a greater understanding of the pace and geography of newly emerging cases and better understand and manage response to the novel H1N1 flu pandemic.

Limitations: State case counts and rates do not represent the state's entire population, nor the rate of ILI among all institutions of higher education in the state. The case counts and rates only represent those institutions of higher education that participate in the surveillance program.
