This ACHA web-based educational activity was presented live in May-June 2011, at the ACHA 2011 Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. If you received continuing education credit for the live activity, you are not eligible for additional credit.

This activity utilizes a synchronized audio/video and PowerPoint “capture” of the live program and is available to purchase and download to your computer.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
ACHA health promotion strategies can be effectively used to improve outcomes related to the evolved accountability and learning outcome requirements of higher education. Attendees will be presented necessary information that will help them understand and manage the mounting pressures to justify their existence through accountability and student learning outcomes measures. Examples will be presented of how to develop productive collaborations that can broaden the exposure of health promotion programs and produce measurable learning outcomes.

INTENDED AUDIENCE
This educational activity is designed for nurses and nurse practitioners, social workers, and health educators.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The participant should be able to:

  1. Describe how health relates to the development of the new accountability and student learning outcome strategies in higher education.
  2. Explain potential win–win approaches with possible campus collaborators that can meet the needs of academics and student affairs related to student learning outcomes.
  3. Identify practical technological resources, and how to leverage technology to measure student learning outcomes and encourage collaboration within higher education.



ACCREDITATION

  • ACHA is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
    This program has been awarded 1.5 contact hours.
  • Sponsored by ACHA, a designated provider of continuing education content hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designed for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.5 total Category 1 continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level contact hours available are 0.
  • This program is sponsored by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval #886508715-8527) for social work continuing education contact hours.
     

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREDIT
It is estimated that it will require 1.5 hours to view the download of this program and complete the post-test and evaluation. After viewing this program, go to the link provided at the end of the presentation to complete the post-test and program evaluation. We encourage participants to complete the post-test and evaluation form immediately after viewing the download. You will be tested on the content of the presentation. Those with a passing grade of 80% on the post-test will receive their CE certificate electronically within two weeks. (Note: you may print the post-test prior to viewing the download.)

POLICY ON CONTINUING EDUCATION POST-TESTS
It is the policy of the American College Health Association that when a post-test is required upon completion of a continuing education activity, participants must receive a passing grade of 80%. If participants receive a grade lower than 80%, they will be given the opportunity to re-take the post-test one time. If they receive 80% or higher the second time, they will be awarded continuing education credits/contact hours for the activity.

Step 2: Complete the Post-test and Evaluation Form. Print a copy of the completed PDF form and fax to (410) 859-1510. Users of Adobe Reader 8 and above should be able to save the PDF form locally, however it is recommended to print a copy of the form before closing the file.
