Description

Immunization practice is complex and is frequently updated with new recommendations and vaccines. Many providers also report frequent turnover among staff in their facilities and increasing demands on their time. CDC receives frequent requests to update providers on immunization practices and makes every effort to provide immunization educational resources in a variety of formats, including web-based and on-site continuing education.

Learning Objectives

The participant should be able to:

  1. Describe at least one new CDC immunization recommendation published in within the past year.
  2. Describe at least two preventive measures health care personnel should be taking in light of recent measles outbreaks in the U.S.
  3. Describe how to find current resources on CDC’s immunization recommendations.

  • The American College Health Association (ACHA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

    ACHA designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

  • Sponsored by ACHA, a designated provider of continuing education content hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designed for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.0 total Category 1 continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level contact hours available are 0.

Policy on Continuing Education Post-Tests

It is the policy of the American College Health Association that when a post-test is required upon completion of a continuing education activity, participants must receive a passing grade of 80%. If participants receive a grade lower than 80%, they will be given the opportunity to re-take the post-test one time. If they receive 80% or higher the second time, they will be awarded continuing education credits/contact hours for the activity. We encourage participants to complete the post-test and evaluation form immediately after viewing the download. Those with a passing grade of 80% on the post-test will receive their CE certificate electronically within two weeks.

A conflict of interest occurs when an individual has an opportunity to affect educational content about health-care products or services of a commercial company with which she/he has a financial relationship.
